Twentieth Century by the Sea | The Promise. History of an incomplete revolution
Marianna Aprile in dialogue with Isabella Ciotti

The year 1946 marks a decisive turning point: after a long journey of struggle and participation, women vote and are voted in for the first time, from the administrative elections in March to the referendum of 2 June and the Constituent Assembly. They are thus born voters and elected, paving the way for new conquests. But how much remains today of that fundamental passage?

Marianna Aprile retraces eighty years of the history of women in Italy, from the 21 constituents and their contribution to the Constitution to the civil rights of the second half of the twentieth century - divorce, abortion, equality, family reform - questioning the present and the concrete meaning of these achievements, also in the light of the arrival of a woman at Palazzo Chigi. In dialogue with her will be Isabella Ciotti, in a confrontation between memory and actuality. Admission free while places last.

Marianna Aprile is a journalist, after twenty-five years in the print media she now collaborates with "Marie Claire", hosts "In Onda" on La7 with Luca Telese and "Amici e nemici" on Radio24 with Daniele Bellasio.
Isabella Ciotti, from Rimini, is a journalist. After two years at the Istituto Affari Internazionali in Rome, in 2018 she joined Tg5, covering news, foreign affairs and economics. Since 2020 she has been a correspondent for 'L'Aria che Tira' on La7.
